| i would suggest water cooling for that set up as 4.05ghz would produce alot of heat but apparently the intel core 2 quads are rock steady at high clock speeds

| It's dependent on the individual cpu as to how far it can oc. But saying that I've oc'd a few of the Q's and they tend, especially the 'go' revision, to be very good for oc'ing. I'd be extremely surprised if you got to 4ghz on air cooling, stable. Just cooling a quad at stock speeds requires a very good HSF (think Tuniq tower or AC7). Even then temps of 40c at idle, depending on ambients, aren't unheard of. Furthest I've oc'd a Q6600 is to 3.4ghz whilst keeping temps under control, this using the Tuniq Tower. But that's me being conservative as I don't like tons of fan volume and hate having to mod extra fans in a case simply to keep a cpu under control. I have seen a Q running at 3.64 on air but it ran around 65c, which is way too hot for my liking at it's close to the thermal shutdown threshold of the cpu. Saying all that though, your house might be as cold as a fridge, you may have 10 fans in your case, or you may just want it for benchmarking. In which case, yeah, go for 4ghz. I'm not saying it can't be done, more I wouldn't want to with air cooling. Choose your mobo wisely as well. Good oc'ing chipsets? P965, P35 and X38. Again, mobo dependent.
