| Hey, I've overclocked my Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 to 3ghz. At the moment it seems to be quite a nice and stable overclock. Anyway I was wondering of anyone could tell me why sometimes CPU-Z tells me that my CPU is at 2.2 or something ghz and then jump up to 3gz some times? And one more thing, I can't push it past 3ghz any bit before it crashes. Is this as far as I can get or is there something I must do? increase voltage? Anyway thanks and try to answer both Q's if possible. thanks, cody |

| Scratch the 3ghz, I experienced a crash during a game so I've downclocked it to 2.9ghz to be safe. Still the same questions but now 2.9ghz instead of 3. Please try to answer both q's, and thanks |

| The CPU is automatically throttled during non-use situations for conservation of power, you can turn this off in the BIOS.

| ok thanks Carbon, but still awaiting someone to tell me what I should do to be able to push this CPU further...I'm sure it can go further than 3ghz. Another thing I'd like to note about this forum although its very good, people don't respond to old threads. |

| Yeah, bump voltage a bit. Max rated is 1.5, so you have a bit to go. Note that voltage really affects temp, so it's not like FSB where you can go ahead and crank it and not have to worry too much.
