Ok, I THINK my computer is finally stable so I'm thinking of OC'ing. I don't NEED to OC, I just want too. I want to learn. I have a fairly decent (I think) link to a guide on how to do so, I'm just wondering about some of the pro's and cons of doing so. Also, should i OC my vid cards?
Tell me some horror stories of an OC gone bad. Tell me how great it is to OC. Tell me what to beware of. Share your experiences please. I have an nVidia 790i Ultra that is supposedly designed to overclock, and a q9450 processor. I forget my CPU coller brand but when I got it, folks here said it was a pretty decent one. I think it's a Zalman? |

What RAM do you have?
My simple guide to OCing, don't go over 1.3625v on cpu, raise the FSB to 450(8 multi), lower RAM devider, see if it will post(3.6Ghz effective) Worst thiing that has ever happened to me is had to reset cmos lol

I have 8gb's of ddr3 ram running at 1333MHz FSB. (patriot). I had to slightly overclock the RAM from the factory specs to even get the computer to boot lol.

I've been OCing since the days of the AMD K6's and I've never burned anything out or killed anything. Worst thing that's happened is I had to pop out the battery 'cause there weren't CMOS jumpers. lol.
