PC Overclocking Guide

Clocking is great... I'm running an AMD 3200+, and it's clocked to the max... My system runs at 30 degrees C, and the Pro runs at 35 degrees. This is due to the excessive use of fans inside the case, and a perpendicular processor fan along with the standard one, so cold air is being blown across the heatsink, and the warm air is being blown out, and sucked out of the system by another fan... Sounds complicated, but I may post up a diagram at some point...

fans are good.

The problem will be the motherboard/BIOS.
Companies like Dell and the rest remove/block overclocking options from their products.
Sometimes it is possible to alter the BIOS or even more difficult methods.
Google your PC/Motherboard model number and overclocking and see if you find anything.
I dont think you will have much luck though.

you can use OC software, but they are no means any safer. in fact, they're less safe.

You may be trying to change the multiplier (which is locked on 99% of processors, save Extreme editions) instead of the FSB. You want to change the FSB.

Well that does tend to happen with off-the-shelf models. I built mine myself, and by an amazing stroke of luck, the CPU options were all unlocked...

Hooray for foxconn! =)

There may be another BIOS you can download, but this is a very sketchy process and can render your entire system useless.
