Hey guys...
I just bought a Pentium Dual Core E6300 Core Clock: 2.8GHz FSB: 2066MT/s (266MHz) Only problem is my Ballistix memory only has a clock speed of 800MT/s (200MHz) This i believe, if the CPU FSB runs at the same speed as my memory will drop the core clock to 2.1GHz ![]() The core clock multiplier for this CPU is 10.5 So basically if i increase the multiplier to 14.0 i should gain my 2.8GHz core clock back ![]() I ain't got the CPU yet, should come sometime next week, but does anyone know if the clock multiplier is unlocked? Haha, i'm impatient and really wan't to know! Thanks in advance

Google it.
But as far as I'm aware, only 'Extreme Editions' of Intel CPUs have unlocked multipliers, though I struggle to understand the insane price tag for such a small difference. And, I don't think that the memory will make a difference to your clock speed, but don't take my word as gospel. |

RAM has no effect on clock speed. Only performance of a computer as a whole.
E6300 won't have an unlocked multiplier. Any processor not in the "X" range of processors doesn't. (Eg: QX9650 as opposed to Q9650) Can I ask where you heard the information that your RAM will lower your clock speed? |

Well...
I guessed if your FSB x Multiplier determines your CPU core clock speed. And your memory runs at the same speed as the FSB Then this should in turn affect your CPU core clock. But this was just a guess by myself, i didn't particularly hear it from anywhere. But, overall good news if it won't affect my clock speed
