CPU benchmark says that Pentium Dual Core E6700 gets much higher score than Core 2 Duo E6700... But some people say that Core 2 Duo is better because it's newer and have more L2 cache. Could anyone tell me which one is better for gaming such as GTA 4 or CoD MW2? Thanks!

i guess both are good for these games, but i would rather take the core 2 duo processor because it`s more improved than dual core.

And it could be possible that the benchmark you read is not accurate.

L2 cache makes little to no difference in games, the Pentium E6700 is released almost 4 years after the Core 2. Its much faster and better for overclocking. The FSB Mainly along with Clock Speed is whats counted for Core 2 Duos and Pentium Dual Core. If you're getting a Pentium DC E6700 for a bargain or a trade then thats fine. If you're gonna replace it with a Pentium DC E6700, then don't. Save up abit more for the AMD Llano/Bulldozer coming out or a i3/i5 Sandy Bridge.

The general rule is, you will only actually notice a performance increase if you get something twice as fast. So from Single Core to Dual, Dual to Quad. Or 1.6Ghz Dual Core to 3.2Ghz Dual Core.

If you have a chance, try some applications you use often in two computers that have those processors and see if you notice any difference. If you don't buy the cheapest one :)
Also, the fact that a processor is newer than the other doesn't immediately mean it's faster at every task you throw at it.

You miss my point. The E6700 Pentium is 45nm which performs better than 65nm CPU which the E6700 Core 2 Duo is, whilst producing less heat too making it a better CPU for overclocking. The FSB is the same, so the next thing comes down the line is clock speed. 0.54Ghz is quite a lot, also if you spend some time checking out benchmarks theres little difference between 1mb and 4mb L2 cache. My Athlon II X2 250 has a little 2MB L2 Cache but it outperforms the E8300 which 6mb L2.
