Hey, is anyone out there able to help...

I have a computer, which, although it is Compaq, is for all intents and purposes a decent computer:

Compaq Presario Model#: SR1937UK
OS: Windows XP Home
CPU: Pentium D Dual Core 940 3.2GHz
RAM: 2x1GB PC2-4200
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 7500 LE 512MB
Mobo: Asterope2

There should be a semi-decent amount of power coming out of this thing. Multitasking shouldn't be a push. Large programs and background programs shouldn't be too sluggish, I shouldn't think, should they?

Well, my friend thought that I may be losing out somewhere, he suggested:

CPU isn't banging out everything it should
/
Graphics aren't working properly and not seperating CPU usage

Can anyone suggest how I may:

1 - be able to upgrade on a low and high budget (mobo, cpu, graphics, ram)
2 - discover IF anything is malfunctioning and thus not bringing out all the power?

All replies welcome!!

Thanks!

ive had the CPU usage problem mate, everything is jam packed on your HDD and you can iether do a disk defragment or wipe it all together.

The graphics card on that PC is imo the weakest part.
Run spyware scan,run virus scan,delete unwanted programs,update all drivers,run a reg cleaner,defrag hard drive.

My computer is clean guys, PC Maintenance is an expertise with me, just not hardware knowledge!! Defrags, disk cleanups, registry cleans, shutting down unnecessary/unused programs, disable start up, everything, done it, also, I have 3 HDDs, programs and os on one internal, music and downloads on a second internal, and the least frequently used pictures, films and videos on a third external

Any suggestions as for a replacement for me Graphics Card? Low/Mid/High end budget...

Thanks a lot!

7900GT/7950GT/7900GTX would be my choice. These are all Nvidia's high-end 7 series gpu's. They'll be slight overkill for the cpu but considering the price nowadays you'd be mad not to.
