so here are the two buying options that I have for my custom built pc, Which Processor should i choose?

Option1
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
- 2.4Ghz
- FSB 1066Mhz
- 8mb Cache
- Chip:Wolfdale 65nm

Option2
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
- 3Ghz
- FSB 1333MHz
- 6MB Cache
- Chip:Wolfdale 45nm

which one is better and why for gaming pc?

Second one (E8400) It's much better, as most games can't even fully utilise a duel core, let alone a quad core, so the higher clock speed of the duel will perform better than the quad core in games.

The latter.

The former isn't a Wolfdale..I think it's Kentsfield.

I'd go for the newer, 45nm E8400.

Quads and not really being used by the software yet so you'd get better performance from the dual, chuck in an overclock and it's even better.
