Default quad_core processors for gaming?

perhaps the biggest physical change from direct x9 to x10 is to give the gpu the ability to fully render graphics without the need to rely as heavily on the cpu. quad core processors big saleing point is gaming do you think you'd benefit from quad-core and is it worth it?

Default quad_core processors for gaming?

Considering that i don't personally know of any game that takes advantage of 2 cores over 1 I can't see at the moment how 4 cores is going improve your gaming experience.

Considering the above, how long will it be before developers take advantage of quad core cpu's if they still havn't taken advantage of dual core?

As an example, and using Fraps (FPS counter), i turned off the second core in my core2 duo and played F.E.A.R and there wasn't any difference in frame rates whatsoever.

quad core right now would be a waste of upgrade money. core 2 duo matches its gaming performance and there are less that 5 games that take advantage of more than 2 cores.core 2 duo is also much cheaper. if you want to spend wisely and get more bang for your buck...a 200+ dollar core 2 duo will get the job extremely well done

I'm sure it would be quite powerful. I'm not a hardcore gamer but I do demand a lot from my PC for 3D modeling & animation & rendering and I get by just fine without quad cores. The workstations at my school don't have quad core either but they get by just fine.I'd suggest spending that extra money on RAM or a great video card.
