Default Question regarding dual core CPU's

Sorry for being a nooob but got a simple question.

When I look at my system in control panel its says I have an Intel Core 2CPU 4300 @ 1.8ghz.

I've always been confused by dual core. Does this mean that i effectively have 2 cpu's running @ 1.8ghz each or is that 1.8ghz in total?

Default Question regarding dual core CPU's

Well kinda, it means that you have two cores on one CPU running at 1.8ghz, so you have 2x1.8ghz on one cpu
Hope that makes sense!
