i have a pentium 4 2.8ghz on a 478 zif socket and i really want to know if there has ever been a pentium d (dual core) release on this type of socket as i cant really afford to upgraDE atm plus the rest of the computer still scores incredibly high on various benchmark test but the processor is the only the downfall
i already know the various pros and cons of this processor but i also know this is the only viable upgrade for my system as all the cpus after are on 775 or more the internet is leading me in circles sometimes telling me there is other times saying no so thanks for any help |

Only single core processors where released on socket 478.
You could always overclock it, which might give you a bit of a performance increase. Your only option is to upgrade your motherboard as well, unfortunately. |

Even if there were, it wouldn't be cost effective.

Even a ridiculously cheap 775 board will be better than your current 478 probably.
