Default Ram Corruption?

Hey,

Well, after all this time of worrying over whether I had a a good enough power supply etc, it looks as though it might just be my RAM. I was playing a game (Medieval II) and all of a sudden the computer crashes and a BSOD appears, telling me:

STOP: PFN_LIST_CORRUPT 0x0000004E

Now, I understand that RAM corruption can restart your computer randomly, right? Although it hasn't displayed a BSOD in all this time, maybe this is finally pointing out to me that its corrupt RAM, and not a bad power supply.

Supposedly this error can be caused by drivers writing over RAM space that they do not own, or just corrupt RAM itself. I ran Driver Verifier (Run command: verifier) and verified all the drivers on my computer, and it came up clean. That narrows my search down to one thing: bad, bad RAM.

How best is it to find out whether my RAM is bad? Should I take out 1 stick and see if it crashes, then swap the sticks over? Or chould I just run a memory test? I tried MemTest86 a while ago and it came up clean, should I run it again? Also, would overclocking your graphics card or CPU have anything to do with RAM corruption?

Once again, sorry for the lengthy post, but in order for my problem to be properly diagnosed I feel it is neccessary.

Thanks.

If you were overclocking then yes, your RAM will increase with your CPU, meaning that you may have your RAM running above its limit

You could also try running memtest one stick at a time and try and find the bad one like that

Default Ram Corruption?

So does that mean that overclocking the CPU has ruined my RAM?

Bugger.

No it doesnt it just means that you have your ram running too fast at the moment, try changing your ram to a lower devider in your bios that should fix it
