Hi all,
I'm confused as to which memory will fit in my Dell E520.

The Kingston website is telling me I can have "2GB 800MHz CL5 Module" - 2 of, in matching pairs, to take me up to 4gb. I have 4 slots, incidentally, so presumably 8gb would work.

The Crucial memory tool however says I can only fit 4 * 1gb; it doesn't give me any detail on the memory speed.

I'm a bit lost here; can anyone help? According to the CPUID tool, I have a Dell OWG864 motherboard.

Thanks!

According to all the info I've found, there are two DIMM slots and a max of 4GB, so you need 2x 2GB modules. Worst case scenario you could take off the side, CPU-Z might also tell you how many slots are on the motherboard.

I was worried in case the 2*2mb strips "wouldn't work", since the Crucial memory tool told me to buy 4*1mb strips instead.

Is there any risk of the strips not working as above? Also...if I buy the fastest (Mhz) RAM available, will it work regardless of whether my mo' bo' can support the speed?

Thanks :)

There's no reason to buy anything other than DDR2-800. Like I said, might as well download CPU-Z and then see what it says.
