Default RAM Questions

lol reading it back I see a spelling mistake oh well.

Anyway thanks.

So if I wanted to put another RAM stick in my sisters computer all I would have to check for is what type of RAM it is ie DDR or DDR2 plug it in and walk away. Would there be anything else i would have to look for or do when installing it?

Type of RAM (as you said),frequency, possibly density of the stick.

One thing about question 1, it will only work if the motherboards take the same type!

Not only does RAM come in different types (DDR, DDR2 etc.) it also comes in different speeds.

You want to get some matched to what you already have.

Also RAM likes to be run in pairs, so if you have say two 512MBs currently and no spare slots it would be beneficial to get two 1GBs rather than just one and running one 512MB and one 1GB.

I'm new at this but even I know some computers are very picky about what will work, I don't have an answer for this but just a warning.

What about three 1GB sticks?

Side note my sisters computer has one 1GB stick.
