I looked at my computer spec the other day on my vista control panel, and noticed it said that my RAM was 512mb although I have two 512cards in my motherboard. their are 4 slots for RAM on my motherboard and their are two blue slots and two black slots, the two 512 sticks where in the two blue slots cloest to my proccessor. I took one of the 512 cards out and put it in one of the black slots and booted up my pc and great I have a 1gb again. I then tried moving the other stick of 512 into the second black slot, booted up my pc and I was back down to 512mb. I really want to know why they have suddenly stopped working in the same coloured ports, as I have another 1gb stick in their and it means I can only run at 1.5gb when it should be running at two. anybody got an idea????

thanks.

i think its like that on many motherboards (well mine anyway). when using 2 ram modules you put one in slot one and the other in slot 3. however if you are using 3 modules it should be fine putting the 3rd one any where. if that dosent work sell your 1gb module and opt for 2x 512mb modules

if I sell my 1gb module I am just left with 512mb. I am just confused because they both uest to work together and now they don't. do you think it could have anything to do with just installing vista?
