Default RAM upgrade

I have AMD Dual Core 3800,1 Gb RAM 800MHz,OS XP 32, I would like to upgrade my RAM to 2 Gb or 4Gb,Can someone tell me which is optimal, and will there be a lot of difference between the two options. I use my machine for games. Or will the RAM even be detected?(4Gb)

Thanks a lot in advance.

Default RAM upgrade

You need a 64bit OS for over 3GB.

If you have one 1Gb stick and 2 slots you may be able to add a 2Gb stick. If you have 2 x 512Mb then you could replace one or both, but again up to 3Gb.

Go to the crucial site and see what that recommends.

well thanks for the crucial site Mike0001, looks like I should add 3GB and change my OS into 64 bits for best results. That's all for now.

Personally running anything over 3GB isn't going to make much difference performance wise, you're better off adding just 2GB (3GB Total) and staying 32Bit.
