http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(21806)...5W-Energy.aspx

my CPU is rubbish so i wondered if this is any good?
Also im scared that if i buy it something will go wrong.

If i get this and want to put it in my computer would i need something else? new motherboard? new case? new slot to fit it in or anything?
I have never installed a processor so i have no idea! Also how do i check if my motherboard support quad core?

Thanks for reading, Good morning everyone

You will most probably need a new motherboard, Ram (depending if ur ram is the same as the one in ur current system) and maybe a new graphics card depends if you have agp atm... Cause a new motherboard that supports quad is gonna take pci express.

To check if your motherboard supports quad is easy just go to the manufacturer website and look up your motherboard model and click cpu support list... or just check ur manual/box ...

P.s i suggest you buy a new pc with that cpu (building one would be better) if you want taht cpu to preform at its best....

Read the reviews on your link to see what people think about the Q6600. You will need to post your computer specs before anyone can tell you what will work.

Finding it hard to figure out what motherboard you have.

If you simply want to play games good, a quad core cpu would probably boost your loading times slightly but you wouldn't see a significant increase in the quality of graphics.

You need to focus more towards a more powerful gpu (a graphics card) for better gameplay.

Once I know your motherboard model I can continue helping.

a quad core will help in frame rates and physics rather than graphics. but a good CPU will be needed for todays hi end games and especially for games using the Unreal 3 engine.
