Default Replacing Mobo to Accommodate New CPU - Advice Required

Hello forum, Got a machine which is 7-8 years old which I wish to replace the motherboard to include a faster processor. Apart from physical fitment of the motherboard what other considerations need to take place before I choose one? Sorry for being a bit on the naive side ...

Chances are, if the PC is 7-8 years old you will need to replace everything, even if some stuff fits it will be old and a much lower spec to new stuff so you will get faults and bottlenecks.

Yeah, it's really not worth it at all.

You'd have a far superior system if you just built something really ridiculously budget, even, and I know Carbon will kill me, crappy brads for everything, Generic RAM, $5 PSU etc.

I'm not saying definatly do that, I would rather you spent a bit more on it, I'm just saying that if you did that, it would still be better than what you are thinking of doing.
