Opinions vary on differences to be frank but to the end user seeing the output on their screen? Nothing.

Both take advantage of two cards to boost gaming performance. How they do it differs of course due to architectural differences each manufacturer employs in how they design their gpu's.

You've then got to take into account the cards being used, driver support and game support.

Two 8800GTX's in SLI (for instance) will perform much better than two X2600's in Crossfire.

The motherboard will support Crossfire and the Phenom. But doesn't support SLI.

Why two 8800GT's though? Dual-monitor gaming?

you probably could run like 2 nvidias if it was crossfire but it would only be good with 2 moniters
