I just bought a new asus motherboard that came with an AMD 64X2 2.8 5400 CPU.. I had to go out and buy a new case because my old HP case was compatible.. The question I have is the Q connector that came with the motherboard is great. BUT I can only fathom putting 3 of the 6 wires onto it.. I have the HDD.. power and LED wires plugged into it.. BUT there are about 8 other wires to fit into 3 spots.. how do I know Im putting the right ones in ?

In case I forgot to mention it.. the only reason Im confused is because in the manual the pictures showen about the Q connector are for the power side which is hooked up.. BUT there are no pictures for the other side.. plus there are 4 pins and the connectors only have 3.. also there are no conectors that have names on the connector side.. all the names are different. thats why Im confused haha

Are they at least color coded? I can't imagine they'd leave you hanging like that.

Perhaps you have the wrong connector? Some of the ones that look like the pin arrays for the power/led/HDD lights are actually for ethernet, etc. That would explain the pin difference.

You probably don't need to hook up your fans to the motherboard - it can control them that way, but it's not necessary. So what I'd suggest is hooking up only the HDD, LED, and Power, then plugging the fans in via Molex and just not worrying about it. You can get a fan controller if they're running at some insane speed stock.
