Yes, I could try that and reseating the card.. Yes, The A8N SLI-Deluxe has two PCI-E card slots I forgot about this. Good suggestion! Thank you Social Warfare... I will try this tomorrow morning before I switch on my comp..

Fingers crossed!

I had a look at your setup, nice config. I nearly went with the 7900 when I was looking for a new graphics card. I use to be a Geoforce Owner, but went with ATI as the X800XL was one of the best cards for the time (back in 2005). It was a choice between the X1900XT & 7900 Series. Then again, I was also looking into the X1900XTX at the time too.

Thank you again, and for all your help with this,
Steve.

Ok, today is a new day.. I think my PC wanted to try something new! It still Does a long beep, I can't decide if it does two or three short beeps now. If feels more like a long beep then..duh duh...duh.. Morse code eh! I've changed the graphics card to the new slot (Second PCI-E Slot) and today my machine thought it was a VGA Compatible Card X1950?? Upon re-boot, my machine found the correct drivers and booted successfully. It does seem like a video related issue. Do you think my graphics card is at fault? or is faulty? It only really does it when I first boot up in the morning. Once it did it three times in a row. I always turn off my PC then try again. At the moment it does it once, then I switch off, then switch back on and it works. Then again, it did show the VGA Compatible Card X1950 this time.

My Device manager looks fine, no unknown devices... Very strange.. Now recognised back as the X1900XT..

I think soon SW I will be wanting a new graphics card too. The HD2900...What about the 8800 Ultra SW? I think we all seem to change from ATI to Geforce and back again at some point or another..

I hope somebody can help,
Thank you again,
Steve.

Just another update..

Well I'm going to test a theory out. I have re-installed my X800XL card for the moment and will test it tomorrow morning. Hopefully this will eliminate the problem. If it does, then I think I need a new power supply.

I have been doing alittle research into the subject, X1900XT, Power Supplies etc...

Do you think this Power supply would be good enough for the X1900XT, keeping in mind my above specifications and also my sound card which I forgot to mention.. Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS.

Antec TruePower Trio 650W PSU.. From overclockers website?

Please let me know what you people think,
Again, thank you for all your help with this.
Steve.

Ok I've tried the X800XL in the motherboard with the current 7.9 drivers and it works fine. Even when I first switched the machine on. It seems to be an issue with the power supply. Please could anybody confirm this, Thank you. Stephen.

Did you buy the X1900Xt new?
If you are able I suggest that you try the GPU in a different comp before you splash out on a new PSU

Hi SW,
Well, I bought the X1900XT on ebay from a business seller. It was brand new on the auction. He did say if I had any problems with it I could send it back to him. Thing is, its' been a few months now. It was working fine when I first got it. It does say on the box 450W Power Supply with a 30A 12v Rail. My current Power Supply is a ChiefTec 550W Single 12v Rail with 18A I might have damaged the graphics card by not providing enough power to it. I didn't realise it needed so much power. Another thing is... I just bought a new power supply...it was a impulse decision... Its' the Enermax Infiniti 650W three 12v at 28A, 28A, 30A. I wanted a good make with plenty of space for future components and it has about 82%-85% efficiency.

Hopefully, fingers crossed here. I will set it up correctly. If the graphics card still makes the same beeps...then it was probably the graphics card at fault. Then again, I suppose it is better to have enough power to effciently run the graphics card in the first place. I don't have another machine capable enough of testing the X1900XT. My other (older machine) is an Athlon 700Mhz with Windows98SE

Any suggestions?
Thanks again,
Steve.

Oh well since you have already bought a new PSU, all you can do it hope that that fixes the problem
Otherwise you may have damaged it, but I doubt it
