You will have to have the processors run in sync and this is fairly difficult with two quad core processors. Buy two of them and then buy a motherboard that supports each and interchange the parts.

Quad Cores were made for servers. If you think your computer will be a monster because you somehow managed to run 2x Quad Cores then your just wasting your money in the long run. Most programs don't even take advantage of one quad core let alone two.

to get a monster computer you dont need to have 2x quad core... your programs most likely wont utilize 1..

Theres few uses for an 8 core pc, but folding is one and folding has the potential to help towards finding a cure for cancer. Need i say more?

Regardless of the above, yes there are dedicated motherboards for 2x quad core pc's the downsides in everyday uses are that very few applications are written to make use of dual-core cpu's let alone quad core.

You've also got to use FB-DIMM ram memory which in real world applications is slower than ddr2.

Also if you've got 2 cpu's running your system will need a lot of power and they will also pump out a tremendous amount of heat. As an example the Intel Quad core series Xeon E53 cpu's output around 120w each. You'll need heavy duty cooling to offset this.

Last but not least is cost. Top end Xeon x5355 will cost you around 900.00. Each.
