guys i managed to get hold of this thermal compound dow corning tc 1996....just for the time being will it be helpful in lowering the temperatue??/cause right now i just attached the heat sink without applying any thermal compound..
one more thing my stock intel heatsink contains a three vertical ...

one more thing my stock intel heatsink contains a three vertical grey lines which come in contact with the cpu...how am i supposed to remove them???????? |

You really should use compound... if it's from 1996, it may be off a bit, try and get something newer, I think shelf life is usually 2 years, not 13 ![]() Those grey lines are pre-applied compound, meaning you don't need any more on. My System: FordyPC
