Default Too much RAM

Ok, so I was wondering, I could well be going to vista later on for gaming for my new build, however I can't afford the OS yet, however I think I have decided I will get the 64 bit version. What i wanting to know is, if I get 4GB (2x2GB sticks) of ram what would happen if I install all 4GB on my build with only the 32 bit version of XP? Would It just not recognise some of it, or would it not work at all? And If it's the first option, would that slow my computer down?

Thanks

It will recognise 3gigs, over that you need 64

So it is worth getting the 4gigs until then IMO

Thats what I was thinking, but does it slow the computer down at all having more than it can handle? for example, does having more mean it can't run in duel channel?

It shouldn't slow it down but it won't speed it up much either, I have never heard of anyone having trouble running 2x2duel in 32bit, it may just see it as 1.5x1.5 in duel

Yep ..... I'm using 4gb with Vista Ultimate x86 and there is no slow down, that I can see.

Vista shows 3.25gb on my box.
