AMD touts Barcelona as a "true" quad-core processor, because it features a highly integrated design with all four cores on a single die with some shared parts. This is in contrast to Intel's "quad-core" Kentsfield parts, which use package-level integration to get two separate dual-core dies in the same socket.

Default true quad core processing

ok this may be wrong but as far as i under stand the inter quads are just 2 dual cores stuck together
where as the amd ones are true quads
the intels signals are split from one into 2 then into 2 again ... where as the amd quad cores go from 1 straight to 4
thats the simplest way to put it i saw a flash explanation on the amd website

ive seen some reviews and benchmarks of the new amd quads and apparently they are not very good, one benchmark rated the amd quad lower than the 6400 dual core. also they are more expensive than intel quads at the moment.
