so i have a pretty old HP pavilion Desktop and i want to upgrade it because it is not able to run the games of today well enough anymore.
I wanted to get more RAM and a new graphics card but i feel overwhelmed and confused by all the things on the net. I wanted to know if any1 could shed some light on what i should be looking for as in what is compatible for my system. here are the specs of my comp HP pavilion a454c INTEL(R) pentium(R) 4 cpu 3.00GHz 3.00Ghz, 504 of RAM p.s am i able to get a 4GHz RAM chip even tho my CPU is 3GHz? am i able to get 512MBs of ram even tho i have 504 base ram? No, there is no upgrade path for P4. Your best bet is to buy/build a new machine if you want to game. You can put more RAM in it but gaming wise it's not worth the money to try to "upgrade".

well no upgrade path huh? Today i upgraded my ram to 2Ghz and i upgraded my graphics card to a geforce sumthin or other. not anything like ur PC im sure but now i can play WOW without lag or delay and im perfectly contented. Thx for ur help O.o

Hence why I said "it's not worth it for the money" to buy a "Geforce Something Or Other" and 2GB of DDR1 when a new PC that eclipses it in performance is as low as $350, nor did you indicate in your original post that you were playing WoW in which case I would have suggested something completely different. In the future if you aren't looking for advice that contradicts throwing money into a giant black hole perhaps don't post threads asking for it so as to avoid wasting people's time!!!!
