| just looking to upgrade ram, i got 2 x 512mb ram atm, but my mobo spec's say it will handle 2GB so looking to stick 2 x 1GB in my system Current ram: 2 x 512mb PC2-4200 444mhz what i need: 2 x 1GB (does the PC2 number and mhz speed have to be the same?) looking on ebay (New cards) but they dont seem to have many PC2-4200 http://listings.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsocm...ge=search&fgtp= Thanks alot Smalls |

| Try www.ebuyer.com they do the type your after and its a much better idea buying from a large company who will honor a warranty then buying on eBay

| The PC2 numbers denote how fast the RAM is, motherboards only accept certain speeds. You will need to check you motherboard manual or look on the manufacturers website to see the MAX speed it will accept. If in doubt buy the same as you already have. IE: 2x 1GB PC2-4200

| Two posts up you said you have PC2-4200, if you are unsure run this program and it will tell you what RAM you have. http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php Regardless if you want to run faster RAM than you have you need to ask Packard Bell if you computer supports it. Personally I'd stick with what speed you have, the gains you will notice are slim.
