| Hi all. I bought a pc off a mate of mine, just as a computer to experiment with, turned it on and it was incredibly loud...the only fans on it are the psu fan and the cpu fan. Specs are: Pentium 4 1.5ghz (skt 478) 608mb of ram Gigabyte GA-8SIMLH mobo 2x 20GB hard drives (Western digital and seagate) Windows XP. |

| it may not even be a fan. try taking them off the power, and see if you hear the noise or not. if you still hear it, it's likely from a cd-drive or a hard drive.

| Hi all. I replaced the 250w psu with a 400w psu today. And there was a slight grinding noise when booting but that dissapeared aftter a few seconds, the computer is still rather noisy so i presume the cpu fan is to blame. Temps are: Mobo 31c CPU 32c CPU fan speed 5273 rpm (too fast?) |
