Even fi you're not able to address that last .5GB it will give you a boost. 4GB now is definitely recommended for midrange-high end setup and because of the relatively low cost there's no reason not to.

Do note though that Vista x64 is incredibly stable and if you have a Vista license you can switch over without buying another one.

didntu read my post? 2gb is enough but 4gb will make you computer allot faster espessially if you want to minimise games to check your emails or something and the phenom requires no extra ram that any other quad core really.

That's not what you asked, you wrote "i have read a lot on the net that it needs at least 4 gig", not "if my pc will run better". The answer to "needs" is no.

The answer to "runs better" depends on the mix of programs you intend running. If you're running CPU intensive programs/games then 2GB and 4GB will behave identically, your bottleneck will be the processor speed. If you're running programs/games that end up, with Vista Premium added, using more than 2GB memory, or if you're running I/O bound programs with a large volume of indexed file access, then 4GB will let the system run lots faster than it would run on 2GB.

spot,thanks for the reply,yes i worded it wrong,i did mean i was inquiring if it would run better with 4 gig..............and now i understand that it depends what programs or games etc used
