Hi,

Please can you guys recommend the best air cooling for an Intel Quad Core Q6600 CPU?

My setup is/will be as follows:

Asus P5E3 Deluxe Wifi X38 DDR3 Crossfire Motherboard
Gigabyte 3D Aurora 570 Tower

I find myself melting as I spend hours and hours researching which is the best quad core air cooling but not getting a definitive answer.

I realise that "the best" can mean anything, but this is what I mean:

Temperature: lowest possible under full load
Noise: not bothered about noise, if it means I can have lower temperatures
Budget: £100 but can be flexible if it means I can have lower temperatures

I know that water cooling and phase change is out there but I don't feel confident installing such things as my new gear has so far cost me £854... if things go wrong, it's a lot of money down the drain!

Many thanks for all your help...

Cewy: Try not to hijack another members thread please.

The best hsf on the market for a cpu at the moment is the Tuniq tower.

The Titan Amanda (a tec cooler) is also very good but extremely expensive and very very heavy. Then theres the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 pro. My favourite hsf; light, cheap and cools to a couple of degrees higher than the Tuniq. Out of three the Tuniq is more effective.

But check spacing in your case as it's a very tall hsf, around the 20cm mark.

Thanks Alex. It doesn't say on Tuniq's website that it supports quad cores, just pentium 4's. Should I be worried about this?

thanks :)

Not at all.

Same mount exactly.

And P4's ran damn hot. That's primarily why we have some good hsf's on the market.
