Cheapest is you delete useless junk on the PC. Or an alternative is buy a new harddrive and use it as a slave drive. If your mom is a pc noob she MUST mean HDD space and not RAM. If she doesn't know how to add memory then don't expect them to know what a 'RAM' is..

if u want temporary memory increase the page file in control panel system advanced performance settings advanced virtual memory ....

the cheapest way i can think of is buying a relatively cheap hard drive and install it yourself or ask someone to do it. you can buy a hard drive that has 160 gigs for as little as 50-60 dollars. if you dont want to go through the hassle of this just buy an external hard drive. all you have to do is plug it into you pc via usb and install the software. although externals tend to be more expensive.
