graphics card just works out your gaming and animation efficiency.it aint much helpful when it comes to speed.now, the ram is the main thing that will boost up your pc speed.the next time,u ask abt ur computer, pls giv its config too... but, ofcourse, gfx card might increase ur pc speed but just upto sme extent.if u really want to feel the diff,go for ram upgradation...

The specs on your computer would help this question alot. I tell people all the time when their computer is running slow, start with a defrag and simple clean-up, files and dust. Then if still need be, more memory is the first way to go if you only have money for one thing. If you upgrade your processor, most likely you would need more memory anyway, and possibly a video graphics card to match. Thats really all you can do. Just be sure to keep your desktop free of unnecessary icons, and your memory free of programs that are running and don't need to be, most likely started on start-up. To see what is running, hold CTL+ALT and press DELETE then click the processes tab. DONT TOUCH ANYTHING THAT SAYS SYSTEM. only look at programs that say "your computer's name", e.g. David or My PC. End processes on programs such as REALUPD(realplayer updater). But if you don't know, DON'T TOUCH.
