Hi,

I purchased a Dell Dimension E520 a couple of years ago. It's running Vista but only has (2x512) 533MHz DDR2 sticks. I want to upgrade it by adding 2 x 1Gb sticks. I've been looking for the correct memory I need and it's a minefield to the uneducated! I looked on the Kingston website and it gave me a part number of KTD-DM8400A/1G against the E520, however, when I follow the link on the Kingston website to one of their agents it doesn't say that stick is compatible with the E520!!!

I've been told by a friend that any DDR2 533MHz sticks will work but I'd like to have this confirmed if possible. If that's the case I've found that Kingston do a ValueRam range with the same spec which can be found here.

Essentially, I just need to know if that will work. Any help would be most appreciated.

It probably doesn't have to be 533mHz - post your mobo here so we can be sure. It'll be a lot faster if you can upgrade even just to 667.

Other than that he's right, just get some DDR2 sticks, theres more to it, but its unlikely to be a problem with the sort of spec/size sticks you're looking for.

To find out what your motherboard is download and run CPUid. It will tell you what your MoBo, Processor, RAM, and cache are. Use the latest version (1.49)
