![]() Anyhows, i have decided that i will invest in a new cpu cooler for my Q6600 as am fed up listening to my crap default moan on like it has some serious issues . Am not looking to overclock as such, but maybe i would like to raise it to say 2.7Ghz or maybe even 3Ghz sometimes ,but not heavy duty clocking over 3Ghz. Well i have spent the entire morning on a few websites looking to purchase a cpu heatsink and fan and also cross checking with any reviews i can find mainly coming from frostytech.comI think i have found some coolers that could work, but there is just few things holding me back from the final click to buy. Ok some i have found are good interms of how loud they run under load etc, but there again they are using those crappy plastic feet Can anyone steer me to a good heatsink that they know that will reduce my temps very much so and is nice and quiet . Some i have already looked at are.... Akasa AK-961 CPU cooler Intel LGA 775 Akasa AK-965BL CPU cooler Intel LGA 775 Akasa AK-965 CPU cooler Intel LGA 775 OCZ Vanquisher CPU Cooler - OCZTVANQ OCZ Vendetta CPU Cooler - OCZTVEND Those are some i have been looking at and reading some reviews from frostytech. The reviews are nice ,but they do go into some detail and some - points are putting me off from deciding on any given one. So i was wondering has anybody here got one of these i listed or do they know of any good cooler that will work nice and doesnt matter even if it has those plastic feet, aslong as it will fit , al be happy My current board isnt very good, but it will be replaced in next coming months. MSI 7366 P6NGM-FD I do have another one which is Asus P5KPL-CM but do to bad sensor i put back in the MSI one. Its a standard ATX case with the micro atx mobo from MSI in it. Sorry for the long post , i do hope someone can point me in the right direction, am looking to spend no more than say £30 at max £25 or so if possible. Kind Regards

I don't understand why you wouldn't just buy the Xigmatek which is at the top of Frostytech's list and is inexpensive.

I never even thought of checking there actual websiteI had a look at that , looks not too bad too I was in such a blind panic after few hrs ,the most basic answers passed me by hehe.It does have plastic feet and its multi cpu support , not that its a problem, but i was kinda looking for a cpu cooler that will only work with a LGA socket 775 and nothing else. Not major issue anyhows . Cheers |

The best air cooling solution is the Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme.

Looking for a CPU cooler that only supports socket 775 makes no sense at all.

Well i dont mind if it supports multi setups, but am only ever going to be using Intel LGA775 anyhows, so i seen no point in getting such multifit and maybe suffering some setback trying to install it on mobo, LGA775 sockets are tricky enough to fit even more so on budget mobo and having multifit heatsink would maybe cause me even more hassle ,hehe..... with my big clumsy hands That Xigmatek is tad on the dear side , but maybe am best to invest in a good cooler and cut out the cheap stuff. Will get a lookie at that 120 extreme too, thanks

I dnot know if having multi socket support will make it any more difficult to install the heatsink, you may have just as much trouble with a 775 only HSF.
You are right about the price of that damn TRUE though and perhaps it is overkill for you? Be careful regardless of which one you choose especially as you are using mATX motherboard and some of the better heatsinks are gigantic. Good luick. |

Yeah true, hmm well i went ahead and got one in the end up, its cheaper than cheap hehe, so if it doesnt work out i may take myself and go get a proper ATX board and then get a good cooler.I got the Kühler CPU Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro PWM Sockel 775 in the end up not too heavy on the pocket, so if it dont work out it wont be a major setback Good point about the mATX board i hope it fits kind regards
