Hi..I replaced a defective Intel 478 p4, 2.6 ghz, 400 fsb with a 478 p4, 2.6 ghz, 800 fsb..I show two cpu,s and running only at 1.3ghz. It was not my cmp and dont know what the speed was before. I would expect in both cpu's for it to be about 2.6ghz ?? The bios does not let me increase the clock frequency...Did I make a mistake by replacing the 400 fsb?

thats because its a dual core cpu, 2 cores consisting of 1.3ghz each

So the orginal would have been only 1.3 gb speed also?

No the original was a single core @ 2.6 per core = 2.6ghz overall.

The new one is a dual core @ 1.3 per core = 2.6ghz overall.

They are the same speed processor, except the new one is dual core so is effectively two 1.3ghz CPUs in one, which is more efficient.

Thanks for the good information..I see now but think I read the bios must be capable of using the 2 cpu's..if true I made a mistake and dropped the speed!
