| I'm planning on upgrading after X-Mas with a new graphics card. Was hoping for a GeForce 8 series. This morning, I searched the internet, and I discovered that none of the 8 series made use of the AGP slot, but instead used a PCI Express slot This forum has helped me in the past, so I was wondering if anybody here could tell me if my current motherboard will be able to take this. If not, can anybody suggest an improvement over my GeForce 7600GT? I play alot of games, and some of them have to be run on lower settings (even some of the older ones ), I have 2gb of RAM and a 1.8ghz AMD 64, both of which I've been told to get ridThanks ![]() Last edited by Plusi : 19th Dec 2007 at 12:56 PM. |

| If the motherboard has a PCI express slot and the card is a PCI express, and the operating system has drivers that run the device, then the device will work. Note that there are different types of PCI-Express (i.e. PCI-Ex1 and PCI-Ex16) and the one the card takes must be an open slot on your motherboard. EDIT: No your computer does not have a PCI-Express slot and therefore a graphics card that needs one will not work. Last edited by dice14u : 19th Dec 2007 at 07:03 PM. |
