The DVDRW stopped working. I checked the device manager and it indicates the device is working properly and the software is up to date. When I put a disk in, it lights up for a couple of seconds but nothing happens. Any Ideas?

Maybe the read laser needs to be cleaned?

The computer is about 3 months old.
How do you clean the read laser?
Thanks.

The laser is a small lens attached to a track right under where the CD sits. It should be visible with the drive open. If it's dirty you can clean it with distilled water, CD cleaner fluid, or isopropyl/rubbing alcohol iirc.

When I run set up, it states that the drive is not detected even though in the control panel, the device manager says it is working properly. What's wrong?
I hope this additional info is more help. Thanks.
