"4th Slave Hard Disk S.M.A.R.T. Command Failed. Press F1 to continue."
The hard drive on my old Gateway computer recently failed and had to be replaced. It is now working well but the above error message keeps appearing at start up and wont allow a full automatic reboot. Does anyone know why this is happening as I am finding it difficult to find any info on this subject? I am a relative novice in these topics.

Just go into the bios and turn off the SMART for that drive (or all drives)

As suggested I have looked in the BIOS but can find no reference or access to the SMART controls. Any suggestions as to where these controls might reside?
