Default Access already formatted HDD

Hello,

I would like to ask how one would go about accessing and already NTFS formatted hard drive through a PC running Windows. I have a fresh install of XP Pro on a 320gb Western Digital harddrive that I would like to use to access and get files (mostly music, videos and school work and stuff) from a 160gb Segate HDD with XP Home installed, but not functioning due to a video driver issue. I already have the jumpers set to Cable Select, with the WD as master and the Segate as Slave.

Again, Windows is not functioning on the Segate 160gb due to a video driver issue, and I would like to access files from it inorder to copy them to my new 320gb Western Digital hard drive with XP Pro.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi Safe Insane

Welcome to TCF

First I must ask was XP installed on the Seagate on this current pc or another pc?
I'm guessing it was on another and the reason you can't access it is because it has XP on it as you already have XP on the WD.
This is not a normal dual boot scenario.

Default Access already formatted HDD

It was on this current PC that now has the WD. I've been doing some research and have found out about programs such as Paragon. Would this allow me to access files in the installation of XP on the Seagate (such as files located in the users profiles etc.), or is there some other method you would suggest?

Thank you for help, I appreciate it very much.

Well you could try that I suppose, it would save a lot of hard work.

It maybe possible through Ghost or Acronis I used to have a litttle Dos program that would do it don't know if it would work with an NTFS though I'll dig it out see if it works

Well by any chance the files you want to access are in my documents or in encrypted folders ? cause if that is the case then you will have to transfer the administrative rights from one OS to the other .
