Yeah, to be fair I have heard bad things about most of them. ;)

Hard drives on the whole are pretty unreliable, I expect as soon as RAM gets more advanced we will move away from them.

Default Beware of Maxtor Drives

I have a 250GB maxtor drive in my external case. It cost me £100 around a yr ago, not sure if they would count as cheap or not back then.

It has decided that im not longer allowed to open several of my folders, and after being connected to the computer for 5-10 mins it decides to disconnect itself, very useful when burning music to a CD from it!

That's good to hear. I'm going to get a couple of 250Gb Sata2/300 drives.
