I want to be able to boot from cd's or dvd's

My current set up of a cd and a dvd drive only allows me to boot from the cd unlesss I change the position of the ide cable to the dvd drive. Then I can boot from the dvd.

Would a combo cd/dvd set on the end of the ide ribbon allow me to boot disc from cd or dvd

My bios only have entry for one removable drive to boot

Thanks

You can boot cd's from a dvd drive, a dvd drive can handle both cd and dvd formats

You can boot your computer from dvd drive which can play both CD or DVD so, please make your dvd drive primary .

You should be able to include the DVD Drive in your boot drive sequence, in bios.
Just make sure it's before your HDD.

Then as zerocool said, you will be able to boot with either CD or DVD

No need to change cables/jumpers

Okay no problem, first connect your device and then select boot device, it will automatically detect your second device or drive. presently you BioS detects only one drive since because you have only one CD Rom connected with your computer, whenever you will connect your second drive DVD it will automatically detects and display second drive in BIOS. try it. Best of luck.

Agreed with pete, just ignore the stuff from jamesbraken and johnpol... they've been spamming a lot.. with wrong answers anyway.. and bringing up dead threads..

As pete said, just change the boot sequence in BIOS to accomodate.
