| So....... My relative had a computer custom built for me for my birthday. The CD drive on it worked perfectly fine; it did everything it should do: burn, copy and read disks, but then after a couple months, it stopped being able to read disks, the only exception were DVDs, which could only be played. It couldn't even burn disks or copy them either. Whenever I bought a new device that came with a CD for installing the program, it wouldn't read it and therefore I could never install anything and this time, I am just really frustrated and fed up.....My computer is Windows XP Professional with an Asus P4P800 SE motherboard.. Please help me, my computer is giving me a total headache! |

| Did you try uninstalling them in device manager? Also if you have been using the same type of cd/dvd in it for a long time try changing to a different format like, if cd-r change to cd+r
