Can Someone Tell Me What This is on the Front of My Case Please?

i got this when i abort the case second hand online.. the owner dident no what it is too.
its not a tape reader or a card reader i no that for sure. its connected to my motherboard by a pci card which has a ide type cable that connects it to the pci card..any ideas ?
it seems to have rails each side that guide whatever you put in it. too thin for a tape.and at the back has loads of pins exactly like the pins on the old ide harddrives
