Default Cant play audio cd

I am finding my computer unable to play audio CDs.

When i put a audio CD into my CD Rom drive, windows recognises an audio cd is in the drive and comes up with the options to play or import tracks in iTunes, however when i click on any option iTunes opens as it should b ut does not recognise there is a CD in the drive to be played.

I have also tried opening the CDs in media player and power DVD with no luck.Data CDs are working however, as are DVDs. It used to play audio CDs fine too.

Can anyone enlighten me as ton what the problem might be? My computer runs on XP if this helps at all? Thanks!

Then itunes is probably the cause of your problem. It does have a bit of a history.

Uninstalling then reinstalling it may help.

But Cds will not play on any media player at all? Could it still be iTunes?

Also if i uninstall and reinstall will all my edited library info for tracks , i.e. name and artist be saved and where?

It looks as if itunes has messed up your file associations for cd playing so it could well be stopping windows media player from working properly.

As for your library info, sorry, i have no idea.

After seeing many many problems caused by itunes i avoid it like the plague.

Your songs are stored on your computer, not on iTunes itself.

When you save music it saves to a folder on your computer. Just like any download.
