When I try to burn a cd on my burner that computer keeps telling me there is no cd found. Does this mean my cd burner drive is cooked and I need a new one? Or am I possibly doing something wrong?

Is the software definitely looking at the burning drive?

Go to the options and you should be able to select which drive to use for burning, make sure you burner is selected rather than a normal reader. If that's not the case its very possible its broken, they do wear out with lots of use. You could also try using different software. Dave. My System: Hybr!d

If the CD burner is more than about 2 years old there is a pretty good chance it is stuffed. But try different software, and also try using a microfiber cloth to very gently wipe the sensor which can get dust on it.

I have been runnng Vista 64 bit and got the following error::
HL-DT-ST DVD RAM GSA-408N ATA Device Failed HP told me the cd dvd had failed..got a new one..same eirror The drive WAS seen in at start up just NOT in vista Found some info on microsoft site about a registry problem BUT they had no resolution. Tried a number of things like deleting driver, the usual stuff. Finally decided to reinstall vista and voila the problem was solved. My best guess short of any other info is that it may be because of SP ! for Vista 64 bit As of today I also note that this update is no longer showing on the Microsoft website. Perhaps you like me have seen that this update has been problematic |
