Default CD Drive just ejects

Hey,

A couple of days ago I put GTA and GTA London in my g/f's computer to see if they worked so she could sell them on ebay.
When I put the disks in it couldn't open them and said something about macromedia so i just clicked cancel then tried the other disk that had the same effect.
No whatever disk I put in it (at the moment trying to install Sim's 2 expansion packs) it will just effect it a few moments later with nothing coming up on the screen saying anything is wrong.

Any ideas?

Have you tried testing the CD Drive on another PC to check that it is not at fault itself?

Never heard of it before really.

Can you open the case up enough to just unplug the IDE cable going to the drive?

Then turn the PC on and open the drive and close it. If it opens again, you know it is the drive at fault. If it stays shut, you know it is something to do with the OS.
