Hey all im new to the forum, anyways for the last few months the only way my cd r/rw would recognize discs is after boot up, so anytime i wanted to burn any cd or run any i would have to restart then insert the disc, now its not recognizing discs at all.


also my usb ports are not working or cutting in and out alot

sounds like a faulty motherboard or possibly an overheating north or south bridge? that would explain y it works after a reboot as it will cool down the motherboard a bit. your computer wouldnt happen to be a dell laptop would it?

well i had this problem b4 with my laptop and it went away when i reformattted my hard drive and reinstalled windows.

my cd-rom drive does not work at all now, when i put a disc in the green light keeps blinking and the little cdrom icon next to my mouse pointer comes on and off on and off and it keeps trying to read it but it never does. It doesnt matter if i restart it or not now.
