| If you go into device manager, check to see if your drive is still in there. If its not in device manager then scan for hardware changes, if it is visible but has a yellow exclamation mark (!) try and update the driver by right clicking the dvd/cd drive icon and click update driver. If you have still no luck, then it looks like your suffering from upper/lower filters in the registry. If your not familiar with editing the registry please DONT do this, because editing the wrong thing causes major problems. But I will give you a step to step guide Click start then click on the run icon. In the box which appears type REGEDIT. You then need to navigate to the following key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} Now on the right hand side window pane you will see your dvd/cd drives values, you need to look for upper filter and lower filter, maybe you might just have a lower filter and not a upper filter and vice versa. What you need to do is right click the upper and lower filters value and click delete. Once you have done that exit out of regedit, and reboot the computer, and fingers crossed your dvd/cd drive should of re appeared.... Hope this may help, but please Dont do it if your not familiar with the registry |
