Default Cd Rom Problems

Hey Everybody,

I have a dell dimension 8100. I recently attempted to install a new windows XP operating system on my computer and for whatever reason, my computer doesnt recognize that there is a CD rom drive at all. I'm not really sure what to do. Has anybody experienced similar issues? Any help would be really appreciated...thanks guys

That's odd.

First thing to try would be to remove the primary and secondary IDE channels from device manager.

On a restart Windows will re-install your hard drives and CD-Rom drives.
