Default CD Tray problems...

I put a cd in, and then it ejects itself back out. When I put it in the tray i have to keep it pushed in for about 10 seconds before i can actually use the cd.

solution pelase? :(

sounds like a problem with the actual drive, if it was me I would just get a new drive, as you can probably get faster drives now than the one you have. And they aren't that expensive (you can get them for about a tenner. However don't do that yet, as someone else might have a solution. But one this you could try is re-installing the drivers for the drive.

Well I can't find that drive on the philips website.
You could try updating the drivers from the device manager. right click on my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager>DVD/CD-ROM drives>right click on drive>update driver...
That might work, I don't know but it's easy and quick and might fix it.

Could be a mechanical problem or with the switch, too. Likely this thing's more time intensive to fix than just to replace.

Get the drive closed, by holding it in for 10 seconds, then insert a paper clip into the small hole on the front of the drive ( this needs a firm push). This will release the drive tray.
Now Gently pull the drive tray out to its full extent and push it back in gently until it closes ... repeat his a couple of times and see if things improve.
